Milestones Torres FE17

£1,975.00 incl. VAT

This guitar is modelled on the Antonio de Torres (1817 – 1892) model FE17 of 1864 (see Antonio De Torres, Guitar Maker: His Life and Work (Yehudi Menuhin music guides) which logs all known surviving Torres guitars). Torres built the original for his own use but sold it to Tarrega in 1869. It has the Torres 7 bar fanbracing (www.milestonesofmusic.com.cn/La-Torres ).

Like the Torres original this guitar by Milestones has a solid spruce soundboard. Different woods can be used for the back and sides and the French polish finish can be either natural or antiqued.

Case included in price.

Description

“Thank you for the Milestones Torres. It arrived safely and I’ve been bowled over by the sound. The balance between the bass and trebles and the overall ‘punch’ of the instrument is excellent! Thank you again, Dave.”

The professional guitarist Stephen Yates (winner of the Guitarist of the Year award not long after he graduated a few years back) recently played this guitar and commented just how comfortable and expressive it felt when playing 19th century guitar music by Sor and Giuliani. We agreed that the intonation on the instrument was first rate.

Although small-bodied, the guitar has tremendous presence and projection and these more than make up for its lack of brute force!! It rewards a delicate and thoughtful touch.

The guitar is French polished throughout and can be either natural toned or antiqued (distressed).
